Evening Update

We had a great trail ride today. It helps loosen my back and yet I also get sore from it. I figure it must be good therapy barring any injuries however. We were going to go to the top of the mountain and were quickly deterred when I got off to tighten the cinch on my horse when we figured out what my two companions had just seen. They realized that the little tiny black things were black bear cubs as they scooted up a tree and started yelling "Maaaaaaawwwwwwwwwww Mawwwwwwwwwwww" to wherever its mother happened to be. Almost 100% sure mom could see us quite well, I got back on my horse (and do not even remembered if I tightened the cinch or not) and we hightailed it out of there and went to Trail Plan B... which was a magnificent ride today and the water crossings were not too high from melting snows and the recent rains.

Got back, trimmed bridle paths and fed the horses and then I FINALLY cleaned and rearranged my mudroom to make it a little more user friendly. I sorted onions out of the 50 pound sacks and took the sprouting ones and popped them into the garden though it may be too early yet. I just wanted to get them out of the mudroom and away from the good onions. They will sprout even more and if I keep giving them haircuts, we can continue to get 'green onions' all summer long, albeit without the white bottoms. I also sorted my onions I grew last summer which I just stored over the winter to see what ones would turn out to have the best storage capabilities. Out of 100 -some red skinned, I got one to plant back for seed production, 50-some of the yellow skinned ones. It was a bit early to plant them, but I wanted to finish out the row and I like taking a gamble at times.

My bf's uncle came over and he was amazed at how much we have accomplished since we moved in (he was one of the people whom helped us move in last June). He is pretty excited about the root cellar as well. Just the hole is there as of yet, but he can envision it after I told him how I was going to build it. Other than the roof, the root cellar is one of my main projects while my bf works on another project. He likes what we have done with the place and also took a tour of my greenhouse.

I am thinking I need to take a shower now and change clothing.. or at least change clothes. I made some mosquito lotion this morning and put in a pill vial to take on the trail ride and I seem to reek of Citronella, I have no idea why I did not notice that before this second. *ewww*.
